Beautiful.
LONNIE HAS A LONG REACH.HE CAN EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF US.
This man is training me to sing better
Beautiful
Best ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oooooojeeeeeeee....this is so great....brrrrrrrrrr!!!!! When I talk abaut this music in Serbia, thay tell my I m stupid!!!!
Maybe this is a bold statement but I think that relative to his influence and skill, Lonnie Johnson is the most underappreciated guitar player in history. Single note soloing, vibrato, string bending-all the things we take for granted now, he did all of it first (or was at least the first ti do it on record). Its impossible to overstate his infuence on blues, jazz, rock and roll, hell-pretty much and American musical style that came after. And the man just got better the older he got. And yet somehow he's not a household name the way Hendrix and Van Halen are.
fuck i got the blues. you know you got the blues when not one but two of lonnies songs perfectly describe your own reality. its like i wrote these songs, for my own sadness, to not feel so blue no more. catharsis. im fucked up on shrooms and meth and beer and heartache, yeah i thinks the blues got me again
That had to be mesmerizing to sit there and watch.
Legendary soul music
Me!
What a treasure! I love the way he mixes accompaniment and lead fills in his playing, then takes an unaccompanied guitar solo no sweat, you don’t miss accompaniment one bit, rhythm rock solid, and, on top of it, he’s an amazing singer!
So lovely and lyrical... just the best!
MASTER!
I adore the chaoticness of the set, folks here and there, y'know
Recorded with Duke Ellington
My favourite clip on UA-cam
Seen Muddy 5X'S `1971-1981.
Too late to cry baby, your last chance is gone. Too late to cry baby, your best man is gone. You been so mean and evil, that you should be left alone. I tried for so many years, but I just can't please your mind. Tried for so many years, but I just can't please your mind. I found out you not in love with me, it's been somebody else all the time. Well, you can't keep me baby, and chase every man in town. Well, you can't keep it baby, and chase every man in town. You either gonna get me in a world of trouble, or you'll end up in six feet of ground. Tell her! [spoken words - Otis Spann] Well, I want a woman I can love, tell the whole round world she's mine. Well, I want a woman I can love, tell the whole round world she's mine. I found out being in love with you, is just a waste of time. Well, it was three o'clock in the mornin', when my baby staggered in the door. That did it! [spoken words - Lonnie Johnson] Yes, it was three o'clock in the mornin', when my baby staggered in the door. I said, “Go right back where you stayed last night, don't need daddy's love any more.”

Had Lonnie over to my first home for dinner some time around 1965 when he chanced to play a gig in London,Ontario,he was a great gentleman and one of the early bl.ues guitar player (played with Duke Ellington in'27)
How cool. This is my great grandfather and I’m JUST learning about him. Nice to have these vids to sneak peek into who he was.
@@TheJ2effectYour grandpa was one of the greatest to ever play, across many genres and styles.
Muddy Waters covered Ann Cole on this. ua-cam.com/video/sP0crYPCHV0/v-deo.html
Amazing performance. What a true artist Lonnie was, and we can see he influenced many blues players down the line and rock and roll artists too. A man and his guitar on their own sound superb when both talents are second to none.
et tout cela sans rien voir !...chapeau !

Very beautiful clinteastwood legend 😍😍😍
Wonderful vid
I recently went to his grave paid my respects, had my guitar, played a song at his grave, left him the pick and some flowers, very lonely there , i wish there were more visitors
I went to Feasterville to visit his grave a couple years back. Pretty sure I met his ghost as I was walking back to the train station from the cemetery.
@@LexJones207 I definitely had an interesting feeling after visiting his grave, strange kind of like I bonded with him , almost like he became a close friend or family member, and I still have that feeling.
